Stunning footage of huge summer storm in Florianópolis, Brazil reported by Windy community member Eduardo Godoy. As you can see bellow in the note Eduardo sent us, big summer storms are pretty common in Florianópolis.
Every year at the end of December we have a big summer storm here in Florianópolis. It's the capital of Santa Catarina State in southern Brazil. 95% of its territory is island and the 5% is the continent.
On December 2016, the week before Christmas we had a cyclone of 115 km/h it ripped off bus stops, roofs and it did several other damages.
I was working on the east side of the island as night shift front desk in a hostel. The cyclone arrived at 4 a.m. and it took two days when the power came back.
The first thing I did was to look up for this tropical cyclone (on windy.com). It was still going on a few miles from the island.
The footage was shot on 21 December 2018. Eduardo still has the screenshot of the mentioned storm from 2016 as his cover image in community forums.
